Developing Voice and Style in Writing Through Revision and Technology - Room: 200

So often, student writing (and the instruction thereof) focuses on what the student is saying, but ignores HOW the student is saying it. In this session participants will look at some of the work of Penny Kittle and how one English teacher has taken her work, added technology, and allowed students to write freely in an effort to develop their personal voice as writers. Participants will be asked to do some writing of their own as part of the learning experience.

Digital Storytelling in the World Language Classroom - Room: 202
Limited Capacity seats available

The concept of digital stories is excellent for today’s students, who are digital natives anyhow. Allowing students to turn their stories, projects, essays and written sentences into digital stories makes them more highly relevant because it combines personal creativity and writing with technology and visual and audio media.
Actively engage your students in your world language classroom by turning those paper pencil, or typed sentences, stories, reports or worksheets into interactive digital stories using digital images, video clips, iPad applications or free websites to create lively, engaging digital versions of their writing.
Participants should bring a device to practice and test many of the resources or ideas offered in this session.
